6th Annual Veterans Run
The 6th Annual Veterans Run takes place at Ben T. Davis Park in Tampa, Florida. This event returns to the city schedule following a two-year hiatus caused by hurricane damage and subsequent repairs to the area. The race is designed to honor and support United States veterans, with proceeds benefiting OTS4VETS, a nonprofit organization focused on veteran suicide prevention and support services.
Participants run on the paved Courtney Campbell Causeway Trail, located on the southern side of the bridge. The course follows an out-and-back format alongside Tampa Bay. While most of the route is flat, participants in the longer distances will cross a high peak on the trail that provides views of the surrounding water. The event offers several distance options to accommodate different preferences:
- 5k
- 10k
- Half Marathon
- 15.5-Mile Run (or 16-mile depending on trail repairs)
- Virtual 5k and Virtual Half Marathon
The 15.5-mile option is the only distance that covers the entire length of the Causeway. All courses are professionally timed. The organizers provide multiple aid stations along the trail equipped with water and electrolyte drinks. Runners participating in the Half Marathon and 15.5-mile events also have access to food-based fuel at these stations. A post-race gathering is scheduled at Whiskey Joe's for participants to socialize after their run. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
