Event Details
This is the 4th annual student-led "Using Our Voices" Mental Health Run. The event is part of a series that includes four school districts on Long Island: Patchogue-Medford, North Babylon, Connetquot, and New Hyde Park. The event is designed and executed entirely by students, from planning to race day.
The goal is to promote messages about reducing stress and anxiety, building relationships, and supporting mental and physical health through movement. All proceeds benefit mental health organizations that work directly with youth. The event also helps students work toward the NYS Seal of Civic Readiness.
Distances and Activities
Participants can choose from three events:
- A competitive 5k run.
- A 1 Mile run/walk that is non-competitive.
- A Kids Fun Run for children with a maximum age of 10.
Location and Logistics
The event takes place at Connetquot High School in Bohemia, New York. Packet pickup is on-site on race day morning. Custom medals are awarded to the top three overall male, female, and non-binary finishers of the 5k, as well as to top finishers in various age groups.
A raffle is held with prizes available. There is also an untimed Unified Fun Run for individuals with and without disabilities to participate together, promoting social inclusion. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
