Event Overview
The Pirate 5K & 13.1M event takes place on Saturday, April 4, 2026, in Hickory, North Carolina. Two race distances are offered: a 5K and a Half Marathon. Both events start together.
Race Details
The starting line is located north of a local VFW building, across the street from the corner of 16th Ave Pl NW and 12th St Dr NW. Parking and restrooms are available at a nearby trailhead.
Both courses are out-and-back loops on a shared route. The 5K course is a 0.78-mile out-and-back segment, which participants run twice to complete the distance. The Half Marathon course is a 1.09-mile out-and-back segment, which participants run six times to complete the distance.
General Information
A time limit of 3 hours and 30 minutes is in place for the course. All finishers receive a themed medal. Participants are encouraged, but not required, to wear costumes. A group photo is taken at the start of each race, with a best costume award presented. The event is part of the US Road Running Race Series, where participants can earn series points.
