Pirate 5K & 13.1M at Hickory, NC
The Pirate 5K & 13.1M at Hickory, NC (14) is a competitive running event held in Hickory, North Carolina. Part of the US Road Running Race Series, the event provides participants with the opportunity to earn series points. The race takes place at a designated course starting north of the VFW, across the street from the corner of 16th Ave Pl NW and 12th St Dr NW.
Participants can choose from two main distances:
- 5K: An out-and-back course (1.56 miles) completed two times.
- Half Marathon: An out-and-back course (2.18 miles) completed six times.
The event has a total course time limit of 3 hours and 30 minutes. All participants must register through the RunSignup platform, as no on-site registration is available. Packet pickup is conducted on the morning of the event, beginning 30 minutes before the start and concluding 10 minutes prior to the race.
Facilities including parking and restrooms are situated at the local trailhead. While not mandatory, participants are encouraged to wear costumes, and an award for the best costume is presented following a group photo at the start of the race. Every runner who completes their distance will receive a themed finisher medal. Awards are also distributed based on overall event results.
