South Mountain Run
The South Mountain 5k, 10k, and Fun Run takes place at the Catawba Meadows Greenway in Morganton, North Carolina. This event serves as a fundraiser for the South Mountain Baptist Camp, an organization established in 1957. The proceeds from the race are allocated toward the camp's operating budget to help maintain affordable attendance costs for children, teenagers, and adults.
Participants can choose from several distance options held on the greenway:
- 10 km
- 5 km
- 1 mile (Fun Run)
The course is designated as stroller-friendly, allowing for a variety of participants to access the path. However, per event regulations, dogs are not permitted on the course during the races.
In addition to the physical races, a registration option is available for those who wish to receive an event t-shirt without participating on-site. The event provides an opportunity for the community to support the camp's mission of providing outdoor experiences and spiritual growth through walking, running, or volunteering.
