Event overview
The Burke Sunrise Rotary Strides for STRIVE is a chip-timed 5K held on Saturday, March 28, 2026, in Morganton, North Carolina. The paved course winds through the campuses of Western Piedmont Community College, the NC School of Science and Math, and the NC School for the Deaf, with the South Mountains as a backdrop. Purpose, awards and registration
Proceeds will fund scholarships for the STRIVE program, which targets students in the bottom third of their class who aim to raise their GPAs to continue education after high school. Awards include Top Overall Male and Female, Top Overall Male and Female Masters (40+), and Top 3 Male and Female in each age group: 13 & Under, 14-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70 & Over. Standard registration is listed as $30 ($25 for ages 0-20); fees increase after March 10.
