Event Date and Location
The Medal Madness event takes place on March 7, 2026, in Hickory, North Carolina. The starting line is located north of the VFW, across the street from the corner of 16th Ave Pl NW and 12th St Dr NW.
Distances
The event offers two distances:
- 5K
- Half Marathon (13.1 miles)
Course Information
Both courses are out-and-back loops on a paved trail. The 5K course covers a 0.78-mile segment one way; participants complete this out-and-back loop twice. The Half Marathon course uses a 1.09-mile segment one way; participants complete this out-and-back loop six times.
Logistics
All participants must register online via RunSignup; on-site registration is not available. Packet pickup begins 30 minutes before the race and ends 10 minutes before it starts. Parking and restrooms are available at the Trailhead.
Additional Details
The course has a time limit of 3 hours and 30 minutes. Every finisher receives a themed medal. While not required, costumes are encouraged; a group photo is taken before each race, and a best costume award is presented. This race awards points in the US Road Running Race Series.
