United Way of the Eastern Panhandle Turkey Trot
The event takes place on 11/26/2026 at the property of James Rumsey Technical Institute in Martinsburg, WV. The 5k course uses trail, grass, and pavement and is mostly flat with some gentle hills. Donations for local backpack programs will be collected in the registration area and distributed with holiday backpacks. Any proceeds from the event will be used for youth focused initiatives. The event is held rain or shine.
Several race options are offered, including a timed 5k, a free kids 5k that is non-timed and does not include a shirt, and a short kids fun run for children ages 10 and under. The Sweet Potato Sprint is shorter than one quarter mile; participants in that race receive a finisher’s medal and a children’s book. Age group recognition follows standard categories and overall top male and female finishers are excluded from age group awards. Packet pickup is available at the United Way office at 24 District Way, Suite 201, Martinsburg, WV 25414, and at the venue on race morning. Registration fees vary by date: early registration by November 10 includes a long sleeve t-shirt for the stated fee, while later registration has a higher fee with no guarantee of a shirt.
