Unite to Run
Unite to Run is a fundraiser event held at Al Lopez Park in Tampa, Florida. The event supports Unite for Health, a non-profit organization focused on reducing maternal and child mortality in rural villages in Africa. Proceeds from the event are used to provide essential labor and baby supplies, known as Mama Kits, to pregnant women in Northwest Cameroon.
The event features a single distance:
- 5 km
The 5 km course is chip-timed and follows a route through the park. It is open to a variety of participants, including those moving at an elite pace and morning walkers. For safety reasons, dogs, bicycles, roller skates, and in-line skates are not permitted on the course. While strollers are allowed, they must stay at the back of the group.
All finishers receive a customized drawstring bag, a cap, sunscreen, and oral rehydration solution powder. Medals and gift certificates are awarded to the top three overall male and female finishers. Additionally, the top male and female finishers in various age groups, ranging from under 10 to over 80, receive medals. Participants can also enter a raffle for gift cards on the day of the event.
Registration is available online until the Tuesday before the race, with on-site registration also offered on the morning of the event. Packet pick-up is available on select days leading up to the race at a local running center or at the park on race morning. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
