Event Overview
The Unite to Run is a 5K fundraising event taking place at Al Lopez Park in Tampa, Florida. Proceeds support Unite for Health, a non-profit organization dedicated to reducing maternal and child mortality in underserved rural villages in Africa. Specifically, funds provide free Mama Kits containing essential supplies for labor, mothers, and newborns to vulnerable pregnant women in a remote subdivision in Northwest Cameroon.
Course & Format
The event features a single 5K distance. The race is chip-timed and welcomes walkers. A course map for the 5K route is available online.
Registration & Logistics
Registration is available online until the Tuesday before race day, with on-site registration also available on the day of the event. The standard pre-race fee is $30, increasing to $35 on race day. Packet pick-up is offered at two times and locations: at The Running Center Tampa Bay on specified pre-race days, and at Al Lopez Park on the morning of the event.
Awards & Amenities
All finishers receive a customized drawstring bag, a cap, sunscreen lotion, a packet of oral rehydration solution powder, and a coupon for Feet First. Awards are given to the top male and female finishers in each age category, with the top three overall male and female finishers receiving gift certificates. Age group categories range from below 10 to 80+. A raffle for gift cards will also be held on race day.
Policies
The event is non-refundable, though online registration transfers are permitted until the Tuesday before the race. The race will be held rain or shine, provided conditions are safe, with potential alterations for severe weather. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
