Event Overview
The Union Half Marathon & Relay will be held on April 11, 2026. It is the 9th annual edition of the event.
The start is at the Visitor Center in Big Stone Gap, Virginia. The course uses the paved Greenbelt Trail in Big Stone Gap and connects to the Powell River Trail in Appalachia, Virginia. A notable feature is that participants go through two old train tunnels that are part of the Powell River Trail.

- 2-4 Person Relay
- Both - Half Marathon & First Leg Relay
- Virtual Half Marathon
All participants who complete the event receive a unique finisher's medal and a race t-shirt. The event is timed by We Run Events using B-tags attached to race bibs. Runners, walkers, and wheelchair athletes are permitted. Baby strollers are allowed at the back of the starting pack, and leashed dogs are permitted. Headphones are allowed but participants are advised to stay alert.
