Under the Oaks Run
The Under the Oaks Run is an annual athletic event held on Jekyll Island, Georgia. Organized through a partnership between Saint Simons Christian School and the Jekyll Island Authority, the event reaches its 16th year in 2026. Participants navigate various terrains across the island, including routes along the Atlantic Ocean, through the historic Millionaires Village, and alongside the riverfront and marshes of the Golden Isles.
Runners can choose from three distinct distances:
- Half Marathon (21.1 km)
- 10k
- 5k
The Half Marathon course follows a path under live oak trees and along the coast, whereas the 10k and 5k routes utilize tree-canopied bike paths. A time limit of 3.5 hours is in place for the Half Marathon distance. All participants who complete their respective events receive a finisher medal.
The event starts and finishes at the Summer Waves Waterpark area. Registration includes an event t-shirt, a swag bag, and post-race food. Professional photography is provided during the event, with digital photos made available to participants afterward. The organizers offer a discount for military members and first responders. In the case of event cancellation due to external conditions, the competition transitions to a virtual format, and participant packets are delivered by mail.
