UNC SHAC 5K
The UNC SHAC 5K is a 5-kilometer running event held on October 4, 2026, on the UNC Chapel Hill campus at the Campus Y Courtyard, 180 E Cameron Ave, Chapel Hill. The event marks the Student Health Action Coalition’s 58th anniversary and supports the SHAC Clinic’s free health services.
All proceeds are directed to SHAC’s free services for uninsured and underinsured residents of Chapel Hill, Carrboro, and Durham. The course begins across from the Campus Y at the Old Well and runs through campus; volunteers and signage will direct participants along the route. Free parking is available on campus and on Franklin Street.
The entry fee is $25 for registrations completed by September 15, and increases to $30 beginning September 16 through race day. The fee includes a t-shirt for those registered by September 15; shirts after that date are provided as available. Pre-registered participants can pick up race packets, and late registration is offered on race day.
Awards are given to the overall first, second, and third place male and female finishers and to the top non-binary finisher. Additional prizes are awarded to top finishers in these age groups: 19 and under, 20 to 29, 30 to 39, 40 to 49, 50 to 59, and 60 and over.
