UNC SHAC 5K
The 5K and Health Fair is set for October 4, 2026 in Chapel Hill and marks the Student Health Action Coalition's 58th anniversary. The event starts and finishes at the UNC Campus Y Courtyard at 180 E Cameron Ave.
The course begins across from the Campus Y at the Old Well and routes through campus. Volunteers and signage will direct participants along the route. Free parking is available on campus and on Franklin Street.
Registration opens August 3, 2026 and closes September 15, 2026. The entry fee is $25 for registrations received by September 15 and increases to $30 from September 16 through race day. The fee includes a t-shirt; sizes are guaranteed for those registered by September 15 and distributed as available afterward. Pre-registered entrants may pick up race packets on race day and late entrants can register on race day.
One hundred percent of proceeds go to SHAC’s free health services for uninsured and underinsured residents of Chapel Hill, Carrboro, and Durham. The previous year had over 150 registered runners and walkers.
Prizes will be awarded to overall first, second, and third place male and female finishers, the top non-binary finisher, and the top finisher in each age group: 19 and under, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, and 60 and over. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
