Ultra X Wales, Abergavenny : Brecon Beacons
Ultra X Wales is a multi-day trail running event in the Brecon Beacons near Abergavenny, held on 25 to 26 July 2026. The route runs through rolling hills, valleys, and open upland terrain described as rugged and wild. Weather guidance indicates typical temperatures of 14 to 22°C.
The event offers multiple race distances:
- 110 km
- 60 km
- 50 km
- 25 km
- 12 km
Races are rated with a difficulty of 4/6 and a technicality of 3/5. Ultra X Wales’ races hold UTMB Index status in the 100k, 50k and 20k categories respectively. A full Race Pack with detailed information, timings and cut-offs will be emailed to registered participants about one month before the event.
Camping is available for participants at Llangorse Activity Centre outside Abergavenny on the Friday and Saturday nights of the event. The event also forms part of the Great British Slam. The Slam recognises runners who complete all three GB Ultra X events in the same calendar year using ultra distances only; the 25 km event does not qualify. The three events listed for the Slam include Ultra X Scotland, Ultra X Wales and Ultra X England, each offering 110 km, 60 km and 50 km races.
