Rugged Trail Racing in the Brecon Beacons
Ultra X Wales is a multi-day trail running event held in the hills and valleys of the Brecon Beacons. Based in Abergavenny, the event features several distances across a variety of terrains. The courses are fully marked, and participants have access to medical support and safety teams throughout the race.
The event offers six different race options:
- 110 km (Single stage)
- 110 km (Multi-stage over two days)
- 60 km
- 50 km
- 25 km
- 12 km
The races are recognized as UTMB Index Races in the 100K, 50K, and 20K categories. For runners participating in the 110 km, 60 km, or 50 km distances, this event counts toward the Great British Slam, which recognizes those who finish three specific ultra-distance events in England, Scotland, and Wales within one calendar year.
Participants can stay at a campsite at the Llangorse Activity Centre on Friday and Saturday nights. Checkpoints along the route provide water and snacks, while hot water is available at the campsite for food preparation. The event offers a generous cutoff policy of 2.5 hours per 10 km. Under 23s can participate in any of the distances for free. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
