Beast of the Blacks
The Beast of the Blacks is a trail running event held in the Black Mountains of South Wales. The event is based in the village of Crickhowell, Powys, and features routes that traverse mountain landscapes and historic landmarks. The course is fully marked, and GPX files are provided for navigation.
The event offers three distinct distances for participants:
- 10 Miles
- 20 Miles
- 40 Miles
The event is canicross friendly, allowing participants to run with their dogs. Mandatory safety equipment is required for all runners, including a waterproof jacket and trousers, a race vest, a base layer, a head torch, a whistle, and a first aid kit. Participants must also carry a capacity for 1 to 2 litres of fluid and their own food. As a cup-free event, runners must bring their own reusable cup for use at the three refuel zones located along the routes.
Facilities at the event headquarters include toilets, refreshments, a barista, and a sportswear shop. Medical support is provided by a full medical team. Participants receive a bespoke medal upon completion, and unique trophies are awarded to the top three male and female finishers, as well as age category winners for those over 50 and 60. Special trophies and medals are also available for participating dogs. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
