Event overview
The Beast of the Blacks is a trail running event in the Black Mountains of Wales held on 14 March 2026. Routes are fully marked and GPX files are available. The event is canicross friendly; dogs must be at least 12 months old, be kept on a lead, and owners are responsible for their dogs. Checkpoints and refuel zones provide food and drink and cater for dietary requirements including vegan options.

Facilities at the event include camping, refreshments, toilets, parking (fee), physios, a full medical team, a sportswear stall and on-site catering. Mandatory kit is required for all participants and is checked at registration; items include waterproof jacket and trousers, race vest/pack, suitable base layer, capacity to carry fluid, emergency food, map or downloaded GPX, appropriate trail footwear, first aid items, foil blanket, head torch and whistle.
