Beast of the Blacks 10, 20 & 40 Mile Ultra
The Beast of the Blacks is an ultratrail event held in the Black Mountains with headquarters in Crickhowell. The event takes place on 6 March 2027 and offers three distance options and a minimum entry age of 17. Entries open 19 March 2026 and close 28 February 2027. Entry is through SiEntries and fees vary by distance and date.

Courses are fully marked and GPX files are available. The event is described as canicross friendly. On-site facilities include refreshments, toilets, a medical team, a barista, a sportswear shop, pizza and parking with a £5 fee. Parking tickets are allocated by ballot; a winning parking ticket carries a free entry to a subsequent event. Results are published online and a full photo gallery is provided after the event.
Prizes include awards for first, second and third places with handcrafted trophies, veteran category awards for over 50 and over 60, winning dog trophies and dog medals. Mandatory kit is required and checked at registration; items specified include waterproof jacket and trousers, race vest, base layer, capacity to carry 0.5 litres of fluid, food, map or GPX file downloaded, telephone, hat and gloves, appropriate trail footwear, first aid kit, foil blanket, head torch, whistle, mask and hand sanitiser.
