Beast of the Blacks 10, 20 & 40 Mile Ultra
The event takes place in Crickhowell, Powys on 6 March 2027 and offers three measured trail distances:
- 10 miles
- 20 miles
- 40 miles
Routes are fully marked and GPX files are available. The event base is in a village location in the Black Mountains. Facilities at the event include refreshments, toilets, a full medical team, a barista, a sportswear shop, pizza, and parking charged at £5.
Entry details: entries open 19 March 2026 and close 28 February 2027 at 18:00. Entry fees at publication are £45 for 10 miles rising to £48 from 30/07/2026, £55 for 20 miles rising to £60 from 30/07/2026, and £75 for 40 miles rising to £80 from 30/07/2026. Minimum age is 17 on the event date.
Awards and extras include bespoke medals, first to third prizes with handcrafted trophies, veteran prizes for over 50 and over 60 categories, winning dog trophies and dog medals. Parking tickets will enter a ballot with the winning ticket receiving free entry to a future event. A local running shop will be present on site.
Mandatory kit is required and checked at registration. Required items include waterproof jacket and trousers, race vest, base layer, capacity to carry 1/2 litres of fluid, food, map or GPX file, telephone, hat and gloves, appropriate trail footwear, first aid kit, foil blanket, head torch, whistle, mask and hand sanitiser.
