Event details
The Ugly Sweater 5K is scheduled for December 13, 2025, in Caldwell, Idaho. The event is presented by Canyon Track Club and is the 12th consecutive live running of this race. The distance is 5K. Registration closes on December 5. Registration is non-refundable and non-transferable. All runners and walkers receive a long-sleeved Ugly Sweater 5K T-shirt. Participants are eligible for prizes, awards, and raffle drawings; winners must be present to receive contest or raffle prizes.
Course and race-day logistics
The race starts and finishes at Whittenberger Park near the corner of Centennial Way and Chicago Street. The course crosses the Boise River, circles Rotary Pond, follows the Caldwell Greenbelt upriver to the Old Highway 30 Bridge, crosses the Boise River again, and returns downriver to Whittenberger Park. Packet pickup is available at the finish line gazebo on race morning. Whittenberger Park is dog-friendly; well-behaved dogs are allowed and owners are asked to clean up after their pets.
Awards and purpose
Awards are given for overall 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place male and female finishers, and for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place in age groups for both sexes. Age groups: 10 & under; 11-12; 13-14; 15-19; 20-24; 25-29; 30-34; 35-39; 40-44; 45-49; 50-54; 55-59; 60-64; 65-69; 70 & up. Proceeds support development of youth athletes and related competition travel and entry for regional and national events. Judges will observe costumes, take photos, and report contest results by the end of the race. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
