UF Homecoming & Gator Growl - Gator Gallop
The Gator Gallop is an established annual tradition that takes place within the University of Florida campus in Gainesville. This 2-mile fun run is held as part of the university's Homecoming festivities. The event serves as a gathering point for university students and the broader local running community.
The course route leads participants through the campus grounds and follows the official parade route. The run is scheduled to take place prior to the start of the Homecoming parade, providing a unique opportunity to experience the parade atmosphere on foot. The designated starting location for the event is the Plaza of the Americas.
Registration for the Gator Gallop includes specific participant items for those who sign up by the mid-September deadline. Participants who meet this registration cutoff receive a commemorative t-shirt and a medal.
As a family-oriented event, there are specific guidelines regarding safety and supervision. All minors participating in the Gator Gallop must be escorted or accompanied by an adult at all times during the run and the surrounding Homecoming activities.
