Annual Tyler 'Smitty' Smith 5K - Rochelle, Illinois
The Annual Tyler 'Smitty' Smith 5K is a memorial run and walk held in Rochelle, Illinois, at Atwood Park across from Cooper Park. The event honors Tyler Smith, who passed on 9/15/18, and directs all proceeds to the Tyler Smith Memorial Foundation. The foundation funds local high school scholarships and supports other local charities, including police and military organizations.
The entry fee is $35 and includes the race and a T-shirt; lunch is not included. A local vendor will offer lunch for purchase with a portion of those proceeds donated to the foundation. The event is timed but does not award placements based on finish times. Race packets are distributed at Cooper Park Shelter by Kids Ground. The event proceeds in rain or shine, and registrations are accepted through the day of the event. Walk-in sign ups are available at the Rochelle Park District Rec Center Office at 802 Jones Rd in Rochelle.
