Annual Tyler 'Smitty' Smith 5K : Race Information
The Annual Tyler 'Smitty' Smith 5K is a memorial run and walk held in Rochelle, Illinois. The event is organized to honor the memory of Tyler Smith and to raise funds for the Tyler Smith Memorial Foundation. Proceeds will support local high school scholarships and other local charities, including police and military organizations.
This is a no-frills 5K that will be timed; no awards will be given for finish times. Race location is Atwood Park, across from Cooper Park. Race packets are available for pickup at Cooper Park Shelter by Kids Ground. The event is scheduled to proceed rain or shine; if cancellation is required due to conditions beyond the organizers control donations are appreciated.
A registration fee of $35 includes the race entry and a T-shirt. Lunch is not included. Chow Haul Smokehouse will offer food for purchase, with 10 percent of those proceeds benefiting the Tyler Smith Memorial Foundation. The event features raffles and a 50/50 drawing at the Rochelle VFW. Walk-in sign ups are accepted through the day of the event and can be completed at the Rochelle Park District Rec Center Office at 802 Jones Rd in Rochelle.
