Frontline OCR
Frontline OCR is an obstacle course and ruck event held on May 23, 2026 at Byron Motosports Park in Byron, Illinois. The event is organized by the Frontline OCR Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that created the race to honor military personnel, veterans, and first responders.
Available formats and distances include:
- 6.2 miles 10K obstacle course and ruck divisions
- 3.1 miles 5K short obstacle course
- 1 mile kids course for ages 5 to 13
Several competitive and non-competitive waves are offered. The Special Forces wave requires mandatory obstacle completion while wearing body armor for podium eligibility; participants receive unlimited attempts on obstacles, but must surrender their vest if they give up on an obstacle and may keep the vest only if they finish the course wearing it. The Endurance class requires completion of obstacles through a minimum of two 10K laps for podium eligibility. The Heroes waves are reserved for first responders, active military, veterans, retirees, and qualifying spouses; verification may be requested and podium positions are awarded to eligible participants in order. Open waves use the same obstacles without judges or penalties and are conducted as non-competitive waves focused on individual completion.
Ruck participants bring their own pack and weight, with recommended weights of 30 pounds for men and 20 pounds for women. Ruck carries and crawls are completed while wearing the pack; other obstacles are optional. Participants who finish the ruck with the weighted pack earn the Ruck Division patch along with a finisher medal and shirt.
Team entry packs for five or ten racers are available for use in 5K or 10K Open or Ruck non-competitive divisions. Team captains purchase the pack and receive a code to distribute entries to team members. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
