Byron Rocks 5K & 10K - Run it. Walk it. Ruck it.
Byron Rocks is a family-oriented community event offering run, walk, and ruck divisions over the same measured course in Byron, Illinois. Distances include both 5-kilometre and 10-kilometre options, plus ruck divisions that follow the same route as the run/walk fields. All participants are timed.
The event lists separate divisions and awards: overall male and female winners for the 5K and 10K, and 1st through 3rd places by male and female age categories (15 & under, 16-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60 & over). Ruck awards use the same layout and are scored separately from the runs.
Ruck participants must meet weight standards and follow rules: Men 18+ 30 lbs, Women 18+ 20 lbs, Youth 13–17 10–15 lbs (recommended). Weight must be carried for the entire race, may not be removed once the race begins, must be worn on the back, weighted vests are not permitted, and weight will be checked prior to the start. The organizer states that participants registered by the listed registration deadline are guaranteed a souvenir race t-shirt and goodie bag.
Location for registration, check-in, and the event is the Byron City Hall Parking Lot, 232 W 2nd Street, Byron, IL 61010. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
