Tyler Azalea Run
The Tyler Azalea Run was created in 1984 and is a spring running event in Tyler, Texas that highlights routes through the Tyler Azalea Trails. The Azalea Trails attract large numbers of visitors to Tyler each spring.
The event offers multiple distances:
- 1k kids race
- 5k route through the Tyler Azalea Trails
- 10k route through the Tyler Azalea Trails
All courses start at College Street at Bergfeld Park. Runners follow a mix of pavement and brick streets and encounter rolling hills.
Results and awards are given for the 5k and 10k. The top three overall male and female finishers in those distances receive a commemorative award plus a gift card. The top three male and female finishers in each age group also receive a commemorative award; age groups include 14 and under, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, and 80 plus. All participants receive medals, including kids.
The event benefits The Children’s Village, a Christian children’s home that provides 24-hour residential care in family-style homes and serves sibling groups. The event is supported by volunteers and sponsors and has negotiated a discounted hotel rate with the Courtyard Marriott in Tyler. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
