Event details
The Two Rivers 200/100 takes place in Fairbanks, Alaska from January 23 to January 25, 2026. The event runs on 23 Mile Chena Hot Springs Road, Fairbanks, AK 99712. There are two dog team race classes:
- 100 Mile - Dog team race, 6-12 dogs
- 200 Mile - Dog team race, 8-12 dogs
Entry fees listed are $150 for the 100 Mile and $250 for the 200 Mile. Both events are shown as full and the waiting lists are closed. Sign-ups close January 11, 2026.
Race rules and requirements
Mandatory gear is checked at the start and at each checkpoint; teams must have all required items to record official time. Key mandatory items include a sled with a standard brake, a 3-gallon cooker and cooking gear with fuel, food for one feeding, a cold weather sleeping bag, eight booties per dog, a hand ax of at least 22 inches, snowshoes with at least 252 square inches, a headlamp, an appropriate mainline, and a visible starting bib. 200 Mile mushers receive a vet book.
All dogs must be current on specified vaccinations including Distemper, Adenovirus, Parvovirus, Parainfluenza (where applicable), Bordetella, and Rabies; proof is required at bib draw check-in. A race veterinarian will check dogs before the start and will be available at checkpoints. Dogs or teams judged unfit may be refused start or removed.
Rest, logistics and support
100 Mile teams must take a 4-hour mandatory layover at the first checkpoint; start time differentials apply. 200 Mile teams must accrue at least 12 hours of rest, including a required four hours at the final checkpoint; rest is tallied in 30-minute increments. Drop bags must be clearly marked with the musher’s name and delivered by handlers prior to the musher’s arrival. There is no purse for these races.
