Two Prairies Ultra - March 13, 2027
Two Prairies Ultra is a free Fat Ass trail event organized by Combat Racing Events in Fort McCoy, Florida. The event offers two distances and uses sections of the Florida Trail through the Juniper Wilderness area, including views of Juniper and Hopkins Prairies.
The run starts at Pat's Island Trailhead in the Ocala National Forest, just outside Salt Springs. The full course is organized as two out and back legs: south 8.8 miles to Juniper Springs Recreation Area and back (17.6 miles roundtrip), then north 7.25 miles and back (14.5 miles roundtrip). The 30K route covers only the south leg.
Registration has no fee and opens on December 1, 2026 at 12:00 AM ET. Participation is capped at 50 because of limited parking and the wilderness setting; the organizer requests carpooling when possible.
The event follows a DNS policy. UltraSignup permits withdrawal up to seven days before the event without a Did Not Start result. Repeated DNS results at Combat Racing free events may affect future eligibility; the race director may consider exceptions for extraordinary circumstances.
Because the course uses the Florida Trail, the organizer notes the trail is maintained by the Florida Trail Association and suggests a minimum donation of $25 per participant to support trail maintenance and volunteer efforts. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
