Twins Tot Walk/Run 5K
The Twins Tot Walk/Run 5K is a community event held at South County Regional Park in Punta Gorda, Florida. Founded in memory of Christian and Joshua DeMello, the gathering raises funds and awareness for the Just Against Children Drowning foundation. The organization focuses on providing swim lessons and water safety education to prevent child drowning.
The event offers several ways to participate:
- Twins Tot Run/Walk 5K: A chip-timed course for those looking to set personal records or compete for awards.
- Twins Tot Vigil Walk: A reflective walk intended as a tribute to children lost and a promotion of water safety.
- VIRTUAL Run/Walk 5K: A remote option for those who choose to complete the distance from any location.
- VIRTUAL Vigil Walk: A remote walking option to support the mission from afar.
The event is open to participants of all ages. To accommodate safety, participants with strollers or dogs on a leash are asked to start at the back of the group. Participants who register by late February are guaranteed a high-quality race shirt.
Following the physical activities, the event provides finish-line food, including pancakes and sausage. Awards are presented to the top three male and female finishers in various age categories, ranging from children under 6 to veterans aged 75+. Overall awards are also given for Masters, Grand Masters, and other senior divisions. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
