Organizers report that this stagger, based on 2026 pace data, will reduce the number of 10 mile runners on the narrow canal section during the key crossover period by around 89 percent, which should reduce congestion and improve overtaking while retaining the familiar course.
The 20 mile entry includes a flexible option: runners who enter the 20 mile race may complete only one 10 mile lap and will receive a medal, a technical T shirt and an official 10 mile time.
