Turtle Crawl - Jekyll Island
Turtle Crawl is an annual fundraising race held on Jekyll Island on May 1, 2027, that supports the Georgia Sea Turtle Center through the Jekyll Island Foundation. The event coincides with the start of the sea turtle nesting season and raises funds for the Center’s rehabilitation, research, and education programs.
The event was created in 2003. The Georgia Sea Turtle Center has provided care for more than 3,000 patients, and Turtle Crawl participants have raised more than $100,000 for sea turtle work. Registered race participants receive a 2027 Turtle Crawl T-shirt; runners placing in their age group receive a medal. Race packets will be available for pickup before the event. For virtual participants labeled Ghost Crawlers, organizers will make every effort to deliver T-shirts by race day.
Race distance options include:
- 10K in-person race
- 5K in-person race
- 1K Fun Run in-person
- Ghost Crawler virtual participant option
