Support Sea Turtle Conservation
Turtle Crawl is an annual race event held at Beach Village on Jekyll Island, Georgia. Established in 2003, this fundraiser supports the lifesaving activities of the Georgia Sea Turtle Center, including research, education, and the rehabilitation of sea turtles and other coastal wildlife. The event coincides with the beginning of the sea turtle nesting season on the Georgia coast.
Participants can choose from several in-person distance options:
- 10K
- 5K
- 1K Fun Run
For those unable to attend in person, a virtual participation option known as the Ghost Crawler program is available. Registration for the event includes a race t-shirt, and participants who place within their specific age groups receive a medal. Registration typically remains open until a few days before the event, with early deadlines required for those wishing to guarantee a specific shirt size.
The Georgia Sea Turtle Center, which serves as the primary beneficiary of the funds raised, is the only facility of its kind in Georgia. Since its opening, the center has treated over 3,000 patients and provides public education through interactive exhibits and programs. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
