Turtle Crawl - Jekyll Island
Turtle Crawl is an annual fundraising race on Jekyll Island that benefits the Georgia Sea Turtle Center through the Jekyll Island Foundation. Established in 2003, the event coincides with the start of sea turtle nesting season on the Georgia coast and supports the Center’s work in sea turtle rehabilitation, research, and education. Over its history participants have raised more than $100,000 and the Georgia Sea Turtle Center has provided care for more than 3,000 patients.
The event includes in-person races and a virtual participation option. Registration for the 2027 event includes a 2027 Turtle Crawl t-shirt; runners placing in their age group receive medals. Race packets are available for pickup before the event, and race shirts can be picked up at packet pickup or on race morning; organizers will make every effort to deliver shirts to virtual participants. Online registration closes April 28 and to guarantee a shirt size participants should register by April 16. Prices increase on January 24, February 25, and March 26.
