Turner Landscape Fell Race
The Turner Landscape Fell Race is a mountain running event based at Turner Hall Farm in the Lake District. The course is approximately 17 kilometres long with about 906 metres of ascent and visits summits including Grey Friar, The Old Man of Coniston and White Pike. The route runs on the east side of the Duddon Valley and is part of this year's Lakes Grand Prix.
The race is run under FRA rules. All entrants must be 18 or older and have prior fell-running experience. Entry is limited to 200 runners and there will be no entries on the day. Registration, parking and kit check take place at Turner Hall Farm; a £3 parking charge applies and maps will be available for sale at registration for cash only.
Mandatory kit is required for the whole race and will be strictly checked. Required items include a waterproof jacket with taped seams and hood, waterproof trousers, a traditional map and compass suitable for the course, a whistle, hat covering the ears or a buff, insulating gloves and emergency food. Navigation is by map and compass only; GPS devices are forbidden except in an emergency, in which case the runner must declare themselves non-competitive at the finish. Running poles are not permitted.
There is an 85 minute cut-off at Grey Friar which may be reduced in bad weather. Water will be available but competitors should bring their own cups. Results will be posted on ukresults.net. No refunds are available; places may be transferred until entries close. All proceeds from entries and parking will be donated to Alzheimer’s Research UK.
