Borrowdale Fell Race
The Borrowdale Fell Race is a challenging 17-mile (27 km) fell running event held in the Lake District, starting and finishing at the Scafell Hotel in Rosthwaite village. The course features approximately 6,500 feet (2,000 meters) of ascent, including summits such as Bessy Boot, Scafell Pike, Great Gable, and Dalehead. The route passes through rugged terrain with mandatory checkpoints and strict cut-off times.
Entry is limited to 350 experienced fell runners who meet specific qualification criteria. Participants must carry essential safety gear, including waterproof clothing, map, compass, and emergency supplies. GPS navigation is prohibited, emphasizing traditional navigation skills.
