32nd Annual Turkey Trot 5K
The 32nd Annual Turkey Trot is a Thanksgiving Day 5K run/walk held in downtown Springfield. The event is presented by CoxHealth and is described as Springfield’s largest timed 5K of the year and the largest Thanksgiving Day 5K in Missouri, drawing more than 7,000 participants in an average year. It takes place rain or shine.
Proceeds support the Springfield-Greene County Park Board Youth Recreation Scholarship Fund and the Developmental Center of the Ozarks. The scholarship fund helps youth who qualify for free or reduced meals pay fees for Park Board programs, sports, summer camp and other activities. Since 2009, the fund has awarded more than 10,597 individual scholarships. The Developmental Center of the Ozarks provides therapies and educational support for infants and children, an inclusive childcare center and preschool, and daytime services for adults with disabilities.
Participants are asked to bring seven nonperishable food items for Ozarks Food Harvest at packet pick up. Historically the event serves as one of the Park Board’s largest one-day food drives; in 2025 participants donated more than 185,027 pounds of food. In-person registration and packet pick up are handled at the Springfield Expo Center, 635 E. St. Louis.
