Tunnel to Towers 5K Run & Walk - New Orleans
The Tunnel to Towers 5K Run & Walk in the New Orleans area is a 5K (3.1 miles) event held to honor a New York City firefighter who lost his life on September 11, 2001 and to support first responders and military personnel. Participants may run or walk the course, and the event is organized as a non-timed community run.
Registration categories and published fees include adults, first responders and military, youth (13 to 17 years), and children (12 and under). Day-of registration is available on race morning, and there is also pre-race packet pick-up in the days before the event at the Rivershack Restaurant in Gretna. Packets may be picked up by an authorized person who can present the registrant's receipt.
Logistics note that ample parking is available at the finish area and buses will transport participants to the start area on race morning. Bibs must be displayed on the front of the outermost garment to remain on course. Water stations will be available along the route and at the finish.
Strollers and wheelchairs are permitted; firefighter turnout gear and military backpacks are permitted and encouraged. Bicycles, roller blades, and pets are not permitted on the course. Festivities and finish-line activities are located by the Gretna ferry landing. Donations and fundraising are supported, and donations will be accepted for several weeks after the event.
