The New Orleans Ultramarathon
The New Orleans Ultramarathon and Half is a fully urban race that travels through multiple neighborhoods, parks, and waterways in New Orleans. The course visits Jackson Square downtown, the St Charles Garden District, the Lake Pontchartrain lakefront, and finishes in Mid City at Second Line Brewing.
Distances offered:
- 50 miles
- 50 km
- Half marathon
Start locations differ by distance: the ultra distances begin at Jackson Square and the half marathon begins at Louisiana Running Company. Packet pickup is held at Louisiana Running Company. Course maps are emailed to participants and are not posted online. A 2-mile shakeout run is offered at the packet pickup location.
Pacers are permitted for all runners with a limit of one pacer at a time. For 50k and 50-mile runners, pacers may join at or after Aid Station #3, around mile 15. Aid stations provide supplies and most have indoor restrooms or port-o-potties; one aid station is noted as an exception. Drop bags are allowed but must be clearly marked, waterproof or water resistant, and securely closed.
Finish line provisions include swag for all finishers such as a shirt, medal, sticker, and trucker hat; 50-mile finishers receive a finisher coffee mug. Prize money is available for a new course record, and a raffle offers a local running tattoo. Sales are final; refunds, bib transfers, and deferrals are not offered.
