Tunnel to Towers 5K Run & Walk - Outer Banks (Kill Devil Hills, NC)
The Tunnel to Towers 5K Run & Walk takes place on October 10, 2026 at 1000 N. Croatan Hwy., Kill Devil Hills, North Carolina. The event is presented as a community gathering to honor those who lost their lives on September 11, 2001 and to support first responders and military personnel. This is the third annual running of the Outer Banks 5K in the series.
The course distance is 5K (3.1 miles) and is open for walking or running. Registration categories, fees, and open periods for early registration are: Adult $25, First Responders and Military $20, Youth 13 to 17 years $10, and Child 12 and under $5. Early registration opens June 24, 2026 and closes July 1, 2026. Day of registration is permitted with an additional $5 fee and limited shirt availability. Packet pickup location is to be determined. Shirt sizes are not guaranteed and will be distributed first come, first serve.
Participants must display their bib on the front of the outermost garment; those without a bib will be asked to leave the course. The event is not timed and does not award placings. Water will be available along the route and at the start and finish. Strollers and wheelchairs are permitted; firefighter turnout gear and military backpacks are also allowed. An Emergency Medical Service team and radio communication will be available on site. Registration fees do not count toward fundraising totals. Transfers between registrants are permitted but refunds are not provided. Donations will be accepted for six weeks after the event. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
