Flying Pirate Half Marathon
The Flying Pirate weekend in the Outer Banks runs April 23-25, 2027 and centers on a half marathon distance through coastal North Carolina. The main event is a 13.1 mile half marathon and the weekend also includes shorter race options and combination challenges.

The course is at sea level and is mainly flat. It starts and finishes at the Wright Brothers Memorial and passes through neighborhoods in Kill Devil Hills and Kitty Hawk. Runners will see views of the Albemarle Sound and the Atlantic Ocean; rolling terrain in Kitty Hawk is noted as more varied.
Logistics noted by the organizer include no race day packet pick-up and packet pick-up at St. Andrew's By-the-Sea Episcopal Church in Nags Head. Parking is listed at the First Flight Schools Complex in Kill Devil Hills. Strollers and pets are not allowed.
A post-race Beer Garden requires a photo ID or a beer band, with beer bands available during packet pick-up. A pirate-themed costume contest will be judged by mile marker sponsors and bike marshals.
