Tunnel to Towers 5K Run & Walk - Milwaukee, WI
This event is a community 5K walk and run held in the Muskego area to honor first responders, remember September 11, 2001, and raise funds for Tunnel to Towers programs. The series was created to commemorate a New York City firefighter who lost his life on September 11, 2001 after running through the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel to the Twin Towers.
The distance is 5K (3.1 miles) and the event is open to walkers and runners. Packet pick up takes place at Corporate Central Credit Union in Muskego on the days before the event, with same-day packet pickup at Veterans Memorial Park on event day. Day-of registration is available; registrants who register late may not receive event shirt size guarantees.
The event is timed and includes awards in multiple categories: Female First Responders, Male First Responders, Overall Females, Overall Males, Youth Female, and Youth Male. Water stations will be available along the route and at the park. Strollers and wheelchairs are permitted; firefighter turnout gear and military backpacks are also permitted. Participants must display their bib on the front of their outermost garment; those without a bib will be asked to leave the course and will not be allowed to finish.
Emergency medical services and radio communication will be available on site. Registration fees are charged in category tiers for adults, first responders and military, youth, and children; fees do not count toward fundraising totals. Donations can be accepted after the event for a limited time, and fundraising incentives are offered. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
