TSF 5K for Rare Neuroimmune Disorders
The event is a 5K run (3.1 miles) scheduled for September 13, 2026 in Weston, Massachusetts at 11 Town House Rd, 02493. Registration is open from June 1, 2026 through August 30, 2026, with a registration fee of $25.
The run is organized by The Sumaira Foundation, a patient-led nonprofit focused on awareness, support and research for rare neuroimmune disorders. The foundation describes itself as patient-led, patient-powered, science-driven and therapy-agnostic, and lists 102 ambassadors from 35 countries who represent patients, caregivers and clinicians.
Background information provided by the organizer notes that a founder experienced sudden vision and sensory loss and was diagnosed with neuromyelitis optica, a rare autoimmune disease that affects the central nervous system and can result in vision loss and paralysis. Since 2018 the foundation has funded one million dollars in research, fellowships and journal publications through grassroots fundraising.
The stated aim for this 5K is to raise funds to support two additional research projects in 2025 through the foundation’s SPARK and Unicorn grant programs. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
