Event Overview
Trystan's Backyard Ultra is an endurance running event held at La Riviere Park in Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin. The event also includes a separate 1-Lap Fun Run/Walk open to all ages.
Event Format
The Backyard Ultra is structured as a Last One Standing race. At the start of each hour, runners begin a 4.167-mile loop within La Riviere Park. Runners must finish the loop within the hour to start the next one. The event continues until only one runner remains.
The 1-Lap Fun Run/Walk follows the same 4.167-mile course but is a single-loop event.
The Course
The course is a 4.167-mile loop through La Riviere Park. The terrain consists of grassy fields, dirt singletrack, and light gravel paths, with forest canopy and rolling hills. Each loop features 200–350 feet of elevation gain. The course starts and finishes at a central aid station and hub.
Amenities and Support
A central aid station at the start/finish area provides hydration and basic fuel. The event features a festival atmosphere with music and local sponsor/vendor booths. Participants receive free race-day photography. Parking is available on-site.
Backyard Ultra participants receive a custom race shirt, a finisher's medal, and are eligible for a cash prize for the last runner standing. Fun Run/Walk participants have the option to purchase the official race shirt. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
