Friends of Yellow River State Forest Trail Run
Friends of Yellow River State Forest organizes trail races at Yellow River State Forest in Harpers Ferry, Iowa on May 7 and 8, 2027. The event offers multiple timed trail races on existing forest trails; distances are approximate due to trail routing.
Available race distances include:
- 5K family-friendly trail run
- 10K trail run
- Half marathon (21K) trail run
Entry fees before April 1 are listed for each race. Prices increase by $5 on April 1. Registrants who meet the April deadline receive a commemorative shirt. Walk-in registration is permitted. Check-in opens one hour before each race at the YRSF Office, 737 State Forest Road, Harpers Ferry, Iowa 52146.
A Dirty Double option pairs the Friday night 5K with a Saturday race at a reduced combined price: Friday plus Saturday 5K for $65, plus Saturday 10K for $70, or plus Saturday half marathon for $75. Dirty Double participants receive a hand-crafted race mug.
All ages are welcome. Children must be accompanied by a registered adult and children over age 12 must be registered. The Friday 5K uses existing trails so strollers may be difficult; well behaved dogs on leash are allowed.
Results include male and female winners in age divisions 17 and under, 18 - 49, and 50 and over, with prizes for first through third place. Friends of Yellow River State Forest is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit and invests event funds back into the state forest. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
