True Grit Trail Marathon

The True Grit Trail Marathon is a trail running event on 23 May 2026 organized by Mad Running Junkies at the Bridgend Miniature Railway Centre area, near Bedford Park in Bridgend. Entry is limited to 60 participants and the minimum age is 18.

The route covers 26.2 Miles of mixed terrain. It includes several steep sections and a quarry segment named the Hill of Doom, a downhill forestry trail that can be technical, a new quarry section with mud and water, and a section called Mount Mayhem. The course passes the Bedford ironworks inside the 40 acre Bedford Park area and runs near the Celtic Trail footpath network.

The course will be waymarked and a GPX file will be provided. There are five major checkpoints with feed stations offering water and simple snacks such as jelly babies. The event lists on site facilities including car parking, toilet facilities, hot and cold drinks and snacks, and a medical team. A bespoke finish medal is included. An option to purchase a t shirt is available for an additional fee.
