True Grit Trail Marathon

The True Grit Trail Marathon takes place on Saturday, 23 May 2026. The start and finish location is the Bridgend Miniature Railway Centre on Fountain Road, Aberkenfig.

The route is a 26.2-mile trail run on mixed terrain. The course includes hills, a quarry section described as "The Hill of Doom," a downhill forestry trail, and passes the Bedford ironworks, a scheduled ancient monument. A final section, named "Mount Mayhem," leads to a flat, muddy final mile. The course is marked and a GPX file is provided. There are five major checkpoints with feed stations offering water and snacks.

The event has an entry limit of 60 participants, aged 18 or older. Entry options include entry only or entry with a t-shirt. Parking and toilet facilities are available at the venue.
