Race #4 Cleland National Park : event description
The event takes place at Cleland National Park in Crafers, South Australia, an area that conserves native bushland on the Adelaide Hills face. Trails run through native woodlands, forests, perched swamps, creeks and cultural heritage areas and offer views across the Adelaide Hills and surrounds. The terrain is hilly and wildlife sightings such as kangaroos and koalas are commonly reported.
Available distances include multiple trail options and a kids cross-country. Drink stations supply water and lollies; participants must bring their own drinking container. Placegetters receive medals and post-run provisions include fruit, nibbles and brownies. Sponsor tents and a massage service by Botanic Health are present at the event site. The long course is listed as a UTMB Index race and an ITRA National Challenge event, while the courses do not attract ITRA points.
There are strict course cutoffs and participants must remain ahead of course sweepers; cutoffs and course closures follow the organiser's published policy. Walkers may take part in the short event only. Parking may be restricted depending on entry numbers and detailed parking information is provided in the race briefing. A free kids cross-country run is organised near the finish with a course leader and a tail runner; adult accompaniment is preferred. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
