Trooper Thompsen Memorial 5K
The event takes place June 13-14, 2026 at Woodard Family Park in Saint Joseph, Illinois (2004 E. Grand Ave. St., 61873). The weekend includes an in-person 5K, a virtual 5K option, and a kids fun run on a short marked course.
Distances:
- 5K in-person race with chip timing and finisher medal.
- 5K virtual option; registration includes medal, shirt, and shipping.
- 0.5 miles kids fun run, one lap, with finisher medal.
Registration details and fees are set for each option. Race shirts are guaranteed for those who register by May 20. The virtual 5K is not eligible for additional race day awards. Packet pick-up is at the Woodard Family Park Pavilion the day before and on race day. Awards are presented at the conclusion of the 5K to overall finishers, top first responders, and the top three in each age group. Age groups for male and female are 14 and under, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, and 60 plus.
The weekend program also lists community activities at the park such as touch-a-truck, face painting, food trucks, a 50/50 drawing, and raffles. Proceeds and donations support a memorial fund for local charitable projects and scholarships. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
