Event overview
The Kennekuk Road Runners - Mountain Goat is scheduled for March 21, 2026 in Oakwood, Illinois. The venue is Kickapoo State Recreation Area at 10906 Kickapoo Park Rd. The event offers three distance options:
- 5K
- 10K
- 15K
There is a two hour time limit for participants. Finisher awards will be presented to the first 200 finishers. Age group awards are not offered. A post race party is planned; details are to be announced.
Course and race logistics
The course is a 5k out-and-back that is 90% asphalt and 10% surfaced handicapped trail. Runners complete the 5k once for the 5K option, twice for the 10K, and three times for the 15K. The route includes a hill section; an aid station is located approximately halfway through the out-and-back at the bottom of the hill. Packet pickup on race day will include bibs, ordered swag, and pins.
Registration, swag and rules
Online registration is open until March 19, 2026. Listed entry fees are $30 for the 5K, $35 for the 10K, and $40 for the 15K. Race day registration fees are higher and do not include the hat. Swag and hat orders must be placed by January 19 to guarantee availability. Race photos will be uploaded to the race website. Regulations prohibit bandits, radios, strollers, and dogs.
