Kennekuk Road Runners - Mountain Goat (Oakwood, IL)
The Kennekuk Road Runners - Mountain Goat is the 39th edition of a seasonal road event held on March 21, 2026, at Kickapoo State Recreation Area, 10906 Kickapoo Park Rd, Oakwood, IL 61858. The course is an out-and-back that repeats the 5k loop one, two, or three times and is approximately 90% asphalt and 10% surfaced handicapped trail. A single aid station is located near the bottom of the hill about halfway through the out-and-back.
Distance options:
- 5K : one out-and-back; includes a hill
- 10K : two out-and-back laps; hill workout
- 15K : three out-and-back laps; extended hill route
Online registration is open through March 19, 2026. Race day registration is available and has separate fees. The event enforces a two hour time limit. Finisher awards are given to the first 200 runners as they cross the finish line. There are no age group awards.
Regulations note that bandits, radios, strollers, and dogs are not allowed. Shirts and awards will not be mailed. No refunds or bib transfers; winners and raffle recipients must be present to receive prizes. The Mountain Goat is part of a Grand Slam series; finishers of all listed Kennekuk events receive a special award presented at the Wild Wild Wilderness race.
