Tri Star Olympic Triathlon
The event takes place in Knoxville, Tennessee at Ned McWherter Park and Riverside Park along the Tennessee River. It offers multiple race formats on the same day, including sprint and Olympic triathlons, duathlons, aquabike races, and relay options. Weight class divisions include Athena for female athletes 165 pounds and over and Clydesdale for male athletes 220 pounds and over. Relay entries are for two or three person teams and must be created during registration.
Distances offered include:
- Sprint Triathlon: Swim 300 yards, Bike 11.5 miles, Run 3.1 miles
- Olympic Triathlon: Swim 1500 yards, Bike 25 miles, Run 6.2 miles
- Sprint Duathlon: Run 2 miles, Bike 11.5 miles, Run 3.1 miles
- Olympic Duathlon: Run 2 miles, Bike 25 miles, Run 6.2 miles
- Sprint Aquabike: Swim and bike totaling 12 miles
- Olympic Aquabike: Swim 1500 yards, Bike 25 miles
The swim takes place in the Tennessee River with a short loop and a return to the swim finish. The bike course follows Riverside Drive toward East Knoxville and includes rolling terrain. The run uses the greenway along the river and passes landmarks such as the Star of Knoxville riverboat launch, Volunteer Landing, and the marina before returning to Riverside Park. Packet pickup is scheduled on the day before and on race morning at Ned McWherter Park. There are swim and bike cutoffs. Parking is available under the bridge at Ned McWherter Park and in an adjacent overflow lot. Registration opens 11/27/2025 and closes 12/1/2025; the individual Olympic entry fee is $109.00.
