Course, safety and logistics
The half marathon course traverses Forks of the River Wildlife Area, William Hastie Park, Marie Myers Park, Ross Marble Quarry, Ijams Nature Center, and other parts of the South Knoxville Urban Wilderness. The route includes rocky, technical single track and smoother mountain bike trail sections. The half marathon has a 4 hour time limit. The 10K uses main nature center trails and Meads Quarry. The Kids Trail Mile runs on a separate wooded loop.
Safety and event rules: aid and water stations will be provided with very small cups, and runners are encouraged to carry their own water. No headsets, earphones, bicycles, baby strollers, roller blades, or pets are allowed on the course. Runners under 12 must be accompanied by an adult to enter adult races. An 18:00/mile minimum pace will be enforced and a sweeper will be used. Weather or safety concerns may cause course or schedule changes; there are no refunds or bib transfers.
