Event
The Dirty South Trail Races take place on Sunday, December 6, 2026, in Knoxville, TN (Meade's Quarry on Island Home Blvd, coordinates 35.952443N, -83.865344W). The event includes these distances:
- Half Marathon (13.1 miles)
- 10K
- Kids Trail Mile
Registration fees are listed on the event page. KTC member discounts are accepted. Registration terms state no refunds and no bib transfers. A special tech T-shirt will be printed; the shirt order is placed on November 12 and shirts are available only while supplies last. Unclaimed shirts will be donated and will not be mailed.
Course, rules and logistics
The half marathon course traverses the Forks of the River Wildlife Area, William Hastie Park, Marie Myers Park, Ross Marble Quarry, Ijams Nature Center, and other parts of the South Knoxville Urban Wilderness. The course mixes rocky, technical single track and smoother mountain bike trail and has a four hour time limit. The 10K uses main nature center trails and Meade's Quarry. The kids run a separate one-mile trail in the woods.
Safety and etiquette rules include: no headsets or earphones, no bicycles, baby strollers, roller blades, or pets on the course. Aid and water stations will be provided with very small cups; runners are encouraged to carry their own water. Runners who drop out should notify race officials so they are accounted for. Participants under 12 must be accompanied by an adult to run an adult race. Race personnel may alter the course or cancel the event for inclement weather; there are no refunds for such changes.
