Tri Pike - Pikeville, KY
Tri Pike is a multisport event held in Pikeville that includes sprint-distance triathlon, duathlon, aquabike, aquathlon, relay divisions, and a separate 5k trail run. The swim takes place in the local YMCA pool. The bike course passes through Historic Downtown Pikeville, includes a short brick-street section, and is hilly. The run uses trails including the Blue Chip Trail and Peach Orchard Trail.
Distances for each format:
- Triathlon: Pool swim 300 m; bike 20 km (12 mi); trail run 5 km.
- Duathlon: Track run 1.6 km (1 mi); bike 20 km; trail run 5 km.
- Aquabike: Pool swim 300 m; bike 20 km.
- Aquathlon: Pool swim 300 m; trail run 5 km.
- 5k Trail Run: Trail run 5 km on Peach Orchard and Blue Chip Trails.
This is a USA Triathlon-sanctioned event; participants and each relay team member must obtain a USA Triathlon license for race-day insurance. Helmets are mandatory on the bike course. An additional safety rule prohibits passing while descending Bob Amos Hill. The bike course is open to traffic and participants must obey traffic laws.
Packet pickup and late registration are available before the event with picture ID. Awards are presented to first overall male and female and will not be shipped. In case of natural or community disaster the city and local officials will make safety decisions; courses may be altered and entry fees are nonrefundable.
