Conquer the Wall Endurance Challenge : Williamson, WV
Conquer the Wall is an endurance event held on the campus of Southern West Virginia Community and Technical College in Williamson, WV. The course is a flat, paved loop of 2.05 miles running along the West Williamson flood wall and adjacent to the college. The event offers two timed formats, a 47 hour option and a 35 hour option, and accepts individual solo entrants as well as relay teams of two or three.
Timing is managed with ankle bracelet tracking devices that participants must wear on their right leg at all times; laps are counted when a runner crosses the timing mat. When a participant reaches 50 miles and crosses the mat, they may reverse direction on the loop. Relay teams exchange the ankle bracelet to transfer lap credit and each team member receives a belt buckle for their completed distance; the team with the most mileage is also recognized.
Rucking is permitted for the 47 hour and 35 hour formats with a required pack weight of 25 lbs; rucks are weighed before the race and periodically during the event. On site food and hydration include snacks, breakfast items, cooked meals, vegan options, and sports drinks. Lodging options include limited indoor cots and outdoor camping near the course with stated fees for one to three day stays. The event limits entries to 250 participants, provides porta potties at the course ends, and offers volunteer shifts with a long sleeve volunteer shirt.
