St. Paddy's Day 5K Run/Walk
The St. Paddy's Day 5K Run/Walk takes place in Downtown Pikeville. This community event encourages participants to wear green while exploring the downtown district. The start and finish lines are located directly in front of the Appalachian Center for the Arts.
The event offers two distinct distances:
- 5K Run (Chip timed)
- Fun Walk (Untimed, approximately 1 mile)
Every participant who completes their chosen distance receives a finisher medal. The 5K event features chip timing for accurate results, and awards are presented to the top male and female overall finishers. Additionally, awards are given to the top male and female participants in various age categories, ranging from ages 10 and under to 70 and over.
A significant feature of the event is the costume contest, which includes categories for the Best Overall St. Patrick's Day Costume, Most Creative, and Best Kids' Costume for those aged 10 and under. A dedicated photo station is available for participants to take pictures before or after the event. Owners who bring pets are requested to use fixed-length leashes.
Packet pickup is available on the Friday before the race at the Pikeville City Tourism Office and on the afternoon of the race near the start line. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
