2026 Tri for Life
The Tri for Life is a sprint-distance triathlon held at the Hempfield recCenter in Landisville, Pennsylvania. The event is organized by the Hempfield Area Recreation Commission and supports the Everyone Belongs Campaign, which provides fitness and wellness opportunities to individuals based on financial need. The competition is open to age group participants ranging from 13 to over 60, as well as relay teams.
The race consists of three distinct segments:
- 300-meter indoor swim
- 16-mile bike course
- 3-mile run course
The event begins with a 300-meter swim in a state-of-the-art indoor pool. Athletes swim up and back through six lanes, starting individually every 15 seconds. Following the swim, participants move to an outdoor transition area to begin a 16-mile bike ride. This course features rolling hills through Lancaster County farmland, passing through areas such as Snapper Dam Road, Eby Chiques Road, and Pleasure Drive.
The final phase is a 3-mile out-and-back run on a relatively flat course through the local area, including Nolt Road and Montezuma Road. A water station is positioned at the halfway turnaround point. All intersections on the cycling and running routes are staffed by officials or volunteers to manage traffic patterns.
Cash awards are presented to the top overall male and female finishers, with additional awards for the top three participants in each age category and the top three relay teams. The event requires mandatory pre-registration by June 14, 2026, and no registrations are accepted on the day of the race. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
