Smith's Challenge Trail Run : Lancaster County Central Park
The 2026 edition marks the 37th year of Smith's Challenge Trail Run. The event is held at Pavilion #2 in Lancaster County Central Park on Father's Day, Sunday, June 21, 2026. The featured race distance is a 5 mile trail course that runs between the park pool area and the Kiwanis loop.
The course uses several surfaces including trail, road, river bed and grass. A water stop is located at the midpoint near the Covered Bridge, and the event includes a supported water crossing. Photographers will be on site during the crossing. Free parking is available adjacent to the pavilion.
Registration details note a flat entry fee of $30 with a shirt included if postmarked on or before 5/23; entries submitted 5/23 through 6/20 have the same fee but shirt availability is not guaranteed, and race day registration is offered at the same price. Online registration via RunSignUp is preferred; a printable application and payment by check are also accepted. There are no refunds and the race proceeds rain or shine.
Awards are presented to the overall top male and top female in each race, and random prize drawings for racers take place after race completion. Registered finishers receive drinks and snacks at the awards ceremony. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
