Event Overview
The Tri for Fun Triathlon #3 takes place at Rancho Seco Park in Herald, California. This event is part of a series that has been held for 43 years, originally established in 1983. The August race features both triathlon and duathlon formats, with options for individual participants and relay teams. The course utilizes the natural landscape of the park, including the lake and surrounding trails.
Distance Options
Participants can choose from the following event formats:
- TRI for FUN Triathlon: 0.5 mile swim, 16 mile bike ride, and 3 mile run.
- DU for FUN Duathlon: 1 mile run, 16 mile bike ride, and 3 mile run.
Course Details
The triathlon begins with a swim in the lake at Rancho Seco Park. This is followed by a bike segment held on local roads. The final stage is a 3 mile run conducted on dirt trails. The duathlon follows a similar structure but replaces the swim with an initial 1 mile run before transitioning to the road bike course.
Participant Information
All finishers receive post-race refreshments and a commemorative item. Awards are presented to the top three finishers in each 10-year age group for the triathlon. Relay teams compete in three divisions: Coed, Female, and Male, with awards for the top three teams in each category.
The event venue at Rancho Seco Park requires a $15 vehicle entrance fee. Packet pick up is available at the race site on the morning of the event.
