von Trapp Mountain Marathon
The von Trapp Mountain Marathon is a trail running event held at Trapp Family Lodge in Stowe, Vermont, in the Green Mountains. The event includes both a full marathon and a half marathon set on the lodge's trail system during the October season, when local foliage is in fall colors and Oktoberfest activities occur in town.
The race uses a 13.1 mile loop that is roughly two thirds double track and dirt road and one third narrow single track. The course includes a newly updated climb to the highest point on the Trapp Lodge property, Round Top Mountain, and features steep climbs, steep descents, and some steep scrambling segments. Full marathon entrants complete the loop twice. The terrain combines runnable trail with serpentine, rugged single track and sections of significant elevation gain and loss.
The event is organized by Ironwood Adventure Works and is presented as an in-person event in Stowe, VT. Registration is handled through the listed entry system and entries close in mid October prior to the race date.
