von Trapp Mountain Marathon
The von Trapp Mountain Marathon is a trail running event held October 17, 2026, at the Trapp Family Lodge in Stowe, Vermont. The event is organized by Ironwood Adventure Works and offers full and half marathon distances on the lodge trail system.
The course is a 13.1 mile loop that is approximately two thirds double track wide trails and dirt roads and one third serpentine, rugged single track. The route includes steep climbs and descents, sections that require scrambling, and a newly updated climb to the highest point on the Trapp Lodge property, Round Top Mountain. Full marathon entrants complete the loop twice.
The event takes place in autumn when fall foliage is prominent in the Green Mountains. Local seasonal activity in Stowe at that time includes Oktoberfest events in and around town. The race setting emphasizes trail surfaces and elevation changes rather than paved course conditions.
