Westford Turkey Trot
The Westford Turkey Trot is an annual road race held on country dirt roads. The event dates back to the 1990s and has a history of raising money to support the children and families of Westford. Proceeds from the 2026 race will also help purchase a new ice rink for community use. The event takes place at Westford Elementary School, 146 Brookside Road, Westford VT.
Race day activities take place in and around the school gym and driveway. Race day registration and packet pickup are held in the gym. A Tot Trot is held in the school driveway where spectators and runners line the route to cheer on the tots. Racers for the 3K and 10K line up on Brookside Road just beyond the school drive entrance.
Distances
- 3K 1.71 miles, 163 ft elevation gain
- 10K 6.2 miles, 477 ft elevation gain
The 3K course follows Brookside Road to Common Road with a turnaround at the Park and Ride, returning to finish at the school entrance. The 10K follows Common Road and Brookside Road plus Maple Tree Lane, Woods Hollow Road, and Phelps Road before finishing at the school entrance.
Post race concessions are available in the gym hosted by Westford Common Hall. Winners for male and female age categories are recognized and all participants are entered into a raffle with items such as handmade jewelry, winter hats, gift cards, maple syrup, and crafts. The event is organized by Westford Recreation and relies on community volunteers and donated raffle items. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
