Trapp Cabin Trail Races
The Trapp Cabin Trail Races are held annually at the von Trapp Family Outdoor Center in Stowe, Vermont. The event offers multiple trail distances on routes that are not usually open to the general public. The races support Green Mountain Adaptive Sports as a fundraiser.
Distances:
- 5 km: course diverts onto Old County Road, joins Tapline and Lodge Spur.
- 10 km: follows Sugar Road, Russel Knoll Track, then Chris’s Run and single tracks.
- Half marathon: two laps of the main 10 km loop.
Racers follow Sugar Road and proceed onto Russel Knoll Track. The 10 km route continues on Chris’s Run to the Cabin and then the single tracks Growler, Tapline, and Lodge Spur to the finish. The 5 km uses a shorter diversion onto Old County Road before joining the shared single tracks. The half marathon repeats the 10 km loop for a double loop distance.
Registration opens February 1 and closes Saturday, September 19 at 5 pm ET. Day of registration is available and fees vary by age and registration timing. The event uses Run the Day for registration and timing. Walkers are welcome in the 5 km. Medal presentations recognize top female and male finishers for each distance; top three in each category receive a pair of Darn Tough socks. All participants receive a participation medal and complimentary refreshments. Restrooms at the Outdoor Center are available to participants.
